For a shorter first watch of Black Clover's original 170-episode series, skip 29, 66, 68, 82, 123-125, 131, 134-135 and 142-149. Keep the mixed episodes. That removes 18 episodes while retaining the rest, including the anime-original material we recommend keeping on a first viewing. This is a practical viewing recommendation, not an official canon ruling.
How to use this Black Clover filler list
The skip labels follow Anime Filler List's community-maintained index, not a statement from the publisher or studio. Its categories distinguish manga adaptation, mixed material, filler and anime-original continuity. We use that distinction as a starting point, then make our viewing advice explicit. A label describes the relationship to the source; it is not a quality score.
Use the episode's overall number rather than a service's season number. If a platform resets numbering between seasons, check the original episode number before skipping. You should never have to guess whether a season-menu label refers to the same entry as a skip guide.
The complete shorter watch route
Watch these ranges in order. Every number from 1 to 170 is either retained below or included in the opening skip list; the two sets do not overlap.
- Episodes 1-28
- Episodes 30-65
- Episode 67
- Episodes 69-81
- Episodes 83-122
- Episodes 126-130
- Episodes 132-133
- Episodes 136-141
- Episodes 150-170
Do not skip the mixed canon/filler episodes
Keep 2, 8-9, 12, 30, 69 and 102. The index labels them mixed rather than pure filler. Skipping a whole mixed episode can remove adapted story material along with its additions. For a first watch, keeping the complete episode is simpler than trying to reconstruct individual scenes from timestamps.
Why not skip every anime-original episode?
An adaptation can add material that helps its own version of the story breathe. A chapter-by-chapter source checklist and a comfortable first viewing are different goals. Our shorter route removes the pure-filler group but keeps the other additions, so it is not a claim to show only scenes directly adapted from the manga.
The later training material offers a useful example. The official Episode 158 synopsis begins with Asta returning after training with the Spirit Guardians. That gives a first-time viewer a reason to consider the surrounding preparation instead of treating every episode before that point as disposable. Our recommendation to keep it is an editorial choice, not a claim that every preparation scene appears in the manga.
What is worth watching if you have more time?
Episode 151 is a useful optional spotlight for viewers deciding how much extra material to keep. The official synopsis describes a team contest between the Magic Knight captains, broadcast across the kingdom to demonstrate their strength and resolve. If seeing those captains face one another interests you, there is a concrete reason to watch it beyond completing a numbered list. Our shorter route already retains it.
You can also keep the skipped episodes on a relaxed watch. Nothing in this guide says they are forbidden, badly made or incapable of adding character texture. For a rewatch, decide what you want from the session: forward story movement, familiar cast interactions or a particular side adventure. The answer does not have to be the same every time.
Can you jump from Episode 141 to Episode 150?
Yes, that is the shortcut used here. It removes the eight-episode block from 142 through 149. Choose one route before starting that block: watch it as an optional detour, or move to 150. Skipping arbitrarily in the middle is more confusing than either choice. This is advice for the shorter route, not a guarantee that the omitted material has no themes or character moments worth your time.
Where does Sword of the Wizard King fit?
Our first-viewing recommendation is to finish the original run through Episode 170 before trying Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. That is a convenient viewing position, not an assertion that the film occurs chronologically after the last TV episode. Netflix's Media Center describes it as an original story outside the manga, supervised by Yuki Tabata. It does not replace any of the numbered TV episodes in this guide.
What should you do after Episode 170?
Keep watch-order advice separate from release information. This guide will remain focused on the original 170 episodes rather than turning into a weekly schedule. For upcoming entries, check our release calendar and the source links attached to each listing. An expected broadcast time and a confirmed streaming release in your country are not the same thing.
Availability also depends on your territory and service. Our legal anime streaming explainer explains why a platform carrying the series does not automatically establish access to its film or every later installment. This filler guide makes no universal streaming promise.
