Netflix has released a new sneak peek at [Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2](https://www.cyberpunk.net/en/edgerunners2), giving fans another look at the upcoming return to Night City.

Titled **“Cyberpsycho,”** the new footage focuses on **Weak “King” Kingsley**, one of the central characters in the new story, and offers a longer look at the violent world awaiting viewers when the anime returns next month.

Unlike the original *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners*, the new series will tell a **standalone story with a completely new group of characters** rather than continuing David Martinez’s story.

Weak Kingsley Takes the Spotlight

Weak Kingsley — formerly known as “King” — is described as a veteran edgerunner who was once at the top of his game but now lives in the shadow of his former reputation.

The new “Cyberpsycho” footage gives viewers a closer look at Kingsley in action and further establishes the darker tone of the upcoming series.

He will be joined by several other major characters, including **D**, a Snake Nation netrunner driven by revenge; **Roman Carax**, a young cinephile obsessed with documenting the lives of others; and **Talia Yang**, a former corpo-raised character shaped by the violent culture of Maelstrom.

Together, their stories will collide across Night City in what CD PROJEKT RED describes as another brutal and deeply human story set in the world of *Cyberpunk 2077*.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Release Date

The series will consist of **10 episodes** and is being produced once again through the collaboration between **CD PROJEKT RED and Studio TRIGGER**.

The anime is directed by **Kai Ikarashi**, who previously worked on the original *Edgerunners* and directed its acclaimed sixth episode, “Girl on Fire.”

**Kanno Ichigo** serves as lead character designer, while **Bartosz Sztybor** returns as showrunner, story writer and producer. **Masahiko Otsuka** is also returning as part of the creative team behind the story.

A New Story in Night City

Rather than functioning as a conventional second season centered on the previous cast, *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2* is being presented as another [standalone story](https://press.cdprojektred.com/en/news/1831/cyberpunk-edgerunners-2-gets-new-trailer-and-fall-2026-release-window) within the *Cyberpunk 2077* universe.

The official synopsis centers partly on Weak, a legendary cyberpunk now forced to live without cybernetic implants while searching for meaning after his glory days have passed.

At the same time, D begins a quest for revenge that eventually leads him toward corporate secrets that were never meant to be uncovered. Their stories — alongside those of the rest of the new cast — will become increasingly intertwined as the series explores themes of family, obsession, revenge and legacy.

The original *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* debuted on Netflix in September 2022 and became one of the most recognizable anime adaptations connected to a video game franchise.

Now, with its October premiere approaching, the new “Cyberpsycho” footage offers one of the clearest looks yet at the characters who will inherit Night City’s next story.
